How to Keep Your Delaware and Pennsylvania Home Warm This Winter
There’s no doubt about it— the cold is here! You may have started reaching for more layers, piling on extra blankets and turning up the thermostat in your Delaware or Pennsylvania home, but there are a few more ways to bring extra warmth indoors this winter.
As your local real estate experts in Delaware and Pennsylvania, The Kat Geralis Home Team is happy to provide the following tips for keeping your local home warm this winter.
Use your curtains
Thicker curtains are a simple way to keep heat inside your home this winter and avoid losing it through the windows.
Let the sunlight in
During the day, open the curtains and blinds and let as much natural light in as possible. As soon as the sun fades, you can return them to their closed position to maintain heat.
Caulk around your window frames
Any air being lost through cracks and faulty seals around windows can be remedied by caulking around the frames. This is an inexpensive fix that can help you save money each month on energy bills!
Bring in more rugs
Do you have hardwood or tile in your DE or PA home? Consider bringing in plush rugs to help warm up the floors inside. These can also help avoid heat being lost through the floorboards!
Ramp up insulation
If you can tell that your home in Delaware or Pennsylvania has poor insulation—especially common in older homes—it may be time to add insulation to your walls and attic.
Use a draft stopper
Do you notice cold air coming in from under your front door? Use a draft stopper to keep the chill on the outside where it belongs!
Reverse your ceiling fan
In the winter months, you will want to reverse your ceiling fan’s direction to push the cool air upwards and mix with the rising heat.
Did you know winter can also be an opportune time to sell and purchase a home in Delaware or Pennsylvania? It’s true! Give us a call today for more information about the local real estate market and steps you can take to reach your real estate goals!
We look forward to hearing from you!
